Summer = Performances and Renewal

After an exciting and productive academic year, summer is now in full-swing with all it has to offer!

I kicked off my summer teaching MT Reinforced Motor Function® for students of all ages at Orizzonte Danza in Schio, Italy, directed by Ornella Pegoraro. It was an awesome week of learning where participants learned about the methodology of MT RMF®, experienced tap dance for the first time with the excellent Silvia Ferraris (Alessandria, Italy) and had another out-of-body experience in modern-jazz with the beloved Angelo Monaco (Nice, France). Four intense, hot and humid days concluded with an evening sharing for family and friends.

Jumping ahead to current action! If you're in the US, you can't miss the 26th annual "New York Dance Festival - Refuel Your Soul!" happening now in historic downtown Auburn, NY.  Stop in to catch an amazing class! Then, this Friday, July 21st the Festival will conclude with a special concert "A Day in Dance" at the Exchange Street Plaza at 7pm (details HERE). If you're anywhere near the Finger Lakes region of NY, this is an event not to miss! Oh yeah, and if you're not there - get there! Former student in the professional training program at Orizzonte Danza, Gloria Calesella, is there having the time of her life - crossing an ocean for a lifetime of memories!

If instead you are in Italy, I'd invite you to see "yours truly" perform in GruppoEtra's latest production, "Guernica - storia di un massacro e di un dipinto". The idea for the production came from filmographer, Demetrio Antonello, and the film was co-created with Stefania Mattiello. Teaming up with choreographer, Michela Negro, this artistic team has created a unique production that has dancers from GruppoEtra weaving in and out of projected images, enriched with poetry, recitation and music, to tell the story of a dark moment in human history as depicted by Pablo Picasso. This rendition will be presented at Giardini della Biblioteca, via G. Marconi, 81, Altavilla Vicentina (VI) at 9:15pm. In case of rain the performance will be held inside the library. Entrance is free and open to the public.

For those in or near England, the Basingstoke Academy of Dancing, directed by Tanya Schipelbaum, will hold the 9th annual Moving Experience concert at the Anvil Theatre in Basingstoke, UK. The performance will be held this Saturday, July 22nd at 8pm. Ticket info at www.anvilarts.org.uk

Look out for more dance events to come, mixed in with some great fun in the sun!
